This is an extremely well preserved seemingly mint uniform consisting of a tunic and matching trousers for a Luftwaffe Forestry official of the “Forst Referrendar” rank. The tunic is constructed of extremely fine quality greyish-green garbardine wool, with the shoulders adorned with beautifully crafted shoulder boards, constructed of four rows of forest green interwoven braids in a chevron formation, with a loop on the outer edge creating a button hole for uniform attachment via a green bakelite button. Suspended from the right shoulder is a standard forestry dress agiulette, constructed of strands of interwoven green rayon with six “dots” of golden wires embroidered into the agiullete (a rare variant). The shoulder boards are sewn on and feature a cardstock core with a green felt wrapper, measuring 112 mm (w) x 39 mm (h). The collar is fabricated from hunter green wool, with the edge trimmed in an angled rolled silver aluminum wire, each of the collars adorned with Forst Referrendar collar tabs, constructed of very fine quality manufacture aluminum twisted wire in the shape of four twigs, one in each corner, each with three oak leafs and two acorns and a single oak leaf with an acorn in the centre, with a forest-green woolen backer, standard buckram core, and edged on all four sides with fine quality twisted wire fastened to the sides using invisible green threads, measuring 59 mm (w) x 46 mm (h). The tunic features four pockets on the front, one on each breast and larger ones at the waist on both sides, all designed with a decorative pleat, and all four pockets having fold-over flaps with reinforced button holes and green bakelite buttons. Directly above the right breast pocket is a beautiful and high quality Luftwaffe eagle, constructed of flat, rolled, and round silver aluminum wires in the shape of a standard Luftwaffe officer’s eagle on a green wool backer. It is attached by hand with extreme care and measures 84 mm (w) x 42 mm (h). Suspended from the left breast pocket is a first war period silver grade wound badge that is constructed of silvered bronze. It features a leftward facing steel helmet superimposed ontop of a crossed swords, surrounded by a laurel wreath bearing berries, with a ribbon at the six o’clock position. It measures 38.27 mm (w) x 43.48 mm (h), with a repaired vertical pinback, and weighs 7.0 grams. Directly above the left breast pocket is a first and second war period ribbon bar, consisting of 1) An Iron Cross 1914 ribbon, 2) A War Merit Cross Second Class ribbon with miniature Swords, 3) A Hamburg-Hansa War Cross ribbon, 4) A Hindenburg Cross ribbon with miniature Swords, 5) An Austrian Medal of Valor ribbon, and 6) A Long Service Decoration. All ribbons are mounted onto a metal (magnetic) ribbon bar with a horizontal pinback, measuring 92 mm (w) x 18 mm (h). The front has a vertical row of four green bakelite buttons, sewn in place on the right side, facing an equal number of reinforced button holes to the left side. The sleeve have French-style cuffs, each held in place via stitching on two sides. The rear of the tunic is (single-vented. The inside of the tunic is lined in a moss green rayon, while the sleeves are lined in white rayon in a stripped pattern. In addition, there is a pocket sewn in place on the left breast with a maker’s tag sewn directly beneath the pocket opening, reading “Hubertus-Michorius Göttingen - Beste Verarbeitung” in golden-yellow machine embroidery. The trousers are manufactured of matching high quality green gabardine wool, featuring a forest green stripe that runs along the entirety of the pant leg. Towards the front of the trousers are four black bakelite buttons on the right side, which are met by reinforced button holes on the opposing side. At the top of the opening is a metal catch that links into the hook from the opposing side. The whole assembly is covered by a piece of fabric that buttons onto the right side of the trousers. These trousers feature two diagonal-slit pockets one each side on the front, as well as a small horizontal slit pockets on the right side of the front, and a large horizontal-slit pocket towards the left rear - all are lined on the interior and fully functional. Along the waste are two small extenders that allow these trousers to become marginally bigger when the buttons are undone. The interior is lined around the waste by a grey rayon band. These trousers are nicely pleated with a straight fold down the middle of each pant leg. The tunic measures 45 cm across the shoulders, with a sleeve length of 65 cm, and an overall length of 75 cm. The trousers measure 44 cm across the waste, with an overall leg length of 100 cm, and a 72 cm long inseam. This is an extremely high quality manufacture tunic, of very fine and detailed craftsmanship, in mint condition. It displays minor signs of wear along the collar and the lower parts of the pant leg, but is overall beautifully preserved and in absolutely mint condition.
