Mounted in the centre is the Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur, Chevalier (Order of the Legion of Honour, Knight), Third Republic (1870-1951): in silver with red, white, blue and green enamels, gilt obverse centrepiece, hallmarked with a boar's head on the tip of the ribbon on the obverse, measuring 43 mm (w) x 61.5 mm (h) inclusive of its wreath and laterally-pierced ball suspension, original ribbon, gilt wear on the obverse centrepiece; flanked on the left side by a Miniature of the Ordre des Palmes Academiques (Order Of Academic Palms), 2nd Model (1866-1955), Officer of the Academy: in silver with violet enamels, measuring 10 mm (w) x 15 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, original ribbon; and on the right side by a Miniature of the Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur (Order of the Legion of Honour), Third Republic (1870-1951): in silver with red, white, blue and green enamels, Gold obverse centrepiece, with eleven old rose cut diamonds, representing each of the ten ball finials along with a larger one in the suspension above the wreath, measuring 14 mm (w) x 22 mm (h) inclusive of the large old rose cut diamond in the suspension, crazing and chipping evident in the white enamels on the arm at 5 o'clock and in the green enamels on the wreath on the obverse. The group mounted under glass in an oval wooden frame with a staggered design on its face, loop suspension for wall hanging, easel with black cotton restraining strap affixed to the reverse, inscribed on the easel "DÉCORATIONS DE GASTON DU VAURE DIRECTEUR DE LA BANQUE DE FRANCE À NICE 1927" (Decorations of Gaston du Vaure, Director of the Bank of France in Nice 1927), the frame measuring 160 mm (w) x 207 mm (h).
