United Kingdom. A Canada General Service Medal, 6th (Hochelaga Infantry) Battalion

FENIAN RAID 1866, FENIAN RAID 1870 (Pte. S. Shaw, 6th. H.L.I.). Naming is officially impressed. Contact marks, bruised, edge nicks, replacement ribbon, near very fine.

 

Footnote: Private Samuel Shaw is shown in the roll of the 85 man 6th (Hochelaga Infantry) Battalion, and is listed on page 72 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp. He is documented on the roll as having been posted to Cornwall, Ontario, from May 1 to July 1866, with an "Attack Expected".  It also notes that he had "active service in the field".
