Croatia. A Treasury Guard Official’s Dagger, M-1942

Silvered hilt fittings feature a circular pommel with a center obverse raised inscription, "NHD" (Independent State of Croatia) while the straight cross-guard with rounded ends features a raised tobacco leaf motif flanking the central letters, R over S (RIZNICKA STRAZA), Treasury Department, on both sides. The light green leather grip with twisted gilded wire wrap, no damages or cracks on handle. Blade is plan, unmarked, nickel plated, approximately 25cm (10 inches) in length, double edged blade, grades very fine, showing minor surface wear. The dent-free nickel-plated black scabbard is decorated on both sides with raised tobacco leaves and is complete with enameled shield; with two plain hanger suspension rings. In overall extremely fine condition, and very scarce. Excellent example of this scarce dagger.
