(Albrechtsorden Bruststern, mit Schwertern). 1889,1901, 1914-1918 Issue. A four-pointed and muli-rayed silver star; the obverse with a central white enameled medallion depicting a rightward facing bust of Herzog Albrecht, surrounded by a blue ring, inscribed “Albertus Animous” (Latin - Albert the Merciful), along with enameled arabesques towards the bottom of the enameled ring; the reverse with a vertical banjo pin and a functional hinge/catch assembly; maker marked “S” on the pin, as well as “G. A. Scharffenberg, Dresden - Goldarbeiter F.D.K.S.Ordenschanz” on the war itself; measuring 88.28 mm (w) x 87.90 mm (h); weighing 62.6 grams, in overall extremely fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
