(Abzeichen der Tiroler Adelsmatrikel). Issued 1805-1918. Constructed of silver gilt, with well executed red, white, and green enamels; the obverse of the eagle with a white shield in the center of the eagle’s chest, inscribed “F.I” in black; the reverse with an identical eagle, but the shield inscribed “MT”; suspended from a laurel wreath and loop suspension, with a blue enameled knight on the suspension loop; marked with a Diana’s head for silver content, along with a partial maker mark VM for Vinc Mayer; measuring “32.10 mm (w) x 45.46 mm (h); with multiple scattered shallow flakes in the red enamels; in overall good condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
