(Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber). Instituted 20.12.1939 by Generalfeldmarschall Walther von Braunitsch. (Issued 1939-1945). An oval shaped oak leaf wreath in silvered feinzink, with a national eagle clutching a swastika on the top and a bowtie on the bottom. Diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k with the bayonet attached to the front of the barrel and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle; the reverse plain; with a vertical round wire pinback, a crimped ball hinge, and a crimped flat wire catch, marked “R.S.S” for “Richard Simm & Söhne” on the reverse, measuring 48.87 mm (w) x 62.48 mm (h), weighing 31.4 grams, in overall extremely fine condition.
