Item #G37809
(Goldenes Ehrenzeichen der NSDAP). A well-preserved example of an NSDAP Golden Party badge constructed of gilded tombac and multi-coloured enamels. The obverse presents with a central black mobile swastika within a bed of white enamels, with a red enameled edge inscribed “NATIONAL-SOZIALISTISCHE D.A.P.” (“National Socialist German Workers’ Party”). The reverse presents with a horizontal pinback, inscription of “GES. GESCH.” (“Legally Protected”), and NSDAP member number “20385” for Robert Benda. The badge measures 30.46 mm in diameter and weighs 13.0 grams. Minor chipping to the white enamels is evident, along with some tarnishing of the reverse tombac, but the badge is in an otherwise extremely fine condition.
Footnote:
Robert Benda was born on February 16, 1896 in Halchter (present-day part of Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony). He joined the NSDAP on October 3, 1925 and was awarded the Golden Party Badge on March 2, 1934.
