( 1867-1918 Issue.)A gilt bronze cross patte with stippled arms, the obverse with a circular central medallion depicting the Royal Prussian crown, surrounded by a light blue enameled ring, inscribed “Gott Mit Uns" (German- God with Us) in gilt lettering, the reverse with a circular central medallion depicting the royal cipher of King William I, surrounded by a light blue enameled ring, inscribed “Den 18 October 1861) (German - the 18th of October 1861), on a loop for suspension from a correct replacement ribbon, measuring 42.97 mm (w) x 42.94 mm (h), weighing 16.2 grams, with light to moderate chips to the blue enamels, in overall near very fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
