South Africa, Memorial Plaque, bronze cross and label engraved KILLED IN ACTION - WORLD WAR / 82170 KNR. P.B BRESLER / S.A.A. / GESNEUWEL-WERELDOORLOG with 1939 and 1945 running vertically on each edge respectively, on privately made wooden base with four threaded pins with nuts, 108x180mm, surface wear on plaque, very fine condition.
Footnote: Peter B. Bresler was born around 1924 to Christoffel PP & Louisa CW Bresler of Johannesberg, South Africa. He became a British gunner in the 3rd Field Regiment. Bresler was killed in action when the HM Hospital Ship Ramb IV he was aboard was bombed by German Aircraft on May 10, 1942, near Alexandria, Egypt. He is commemorated at the Alamein Memorial in Egypt.
