Korea, Republic, An Order of Military Merit, "Chungmu" III Class Breast Badge, c.1955

Instituted in 1950. Type I (1950-1963). In silver with red, white, light blue, mid-tone blue and dark blue enamels, number impressed "16626" on the reverse, measuring 41.3 mm (w) x 42.5 mm (h) inclusive of its integral suspension, chipping evident in the light blue enamels on the centrepiece ring, crazing in the white enamels on four of the five arms, large silver star on its original ribbon with pinback, very fine.

Footnote: The Order of Military Merit was instituted on October 18, 1950. It was awarded to military personnel, for outstanding conduct during wartime or in a state of emergency, originally in four classes.
