United Kingdom. A Bravingtons British General Service Pocket Watch, c.1940

This pocket watch is chrome-plated brass, non-magnetic, non-functional and weighing 82.6 grams. The white face has bold Roman numerals in black, with a ring above marked with black rules in intervals of sixty minutes, the hour and minute hands in steel blue. The "VI" (six) position is obscured by the inset second hand clock with a steel blue secondhand, marked "SWISS MADE" and covered by an acrylic crystal. The reverse exterior cover is marked with the British Broad Arrow acceptance mark, marked "G.S.T.P." (General Service Time Piece), marked "L.5127" and maker marked "Bravingtons". The inside of the reverse exterior cover is number engraved "8693B" and "9410B", with "VI VIII" engraved on the rim, and when removed, exposes the inner works of the watch. The inside works is marked on a bar with an "A" over an "F" vs. an "R" over an "S" flanking a downward pointing arrow and is additionally marked in four locations: "CYMA", "SWISS MADE", "7 JEWELS" and "PAT. APPL. FOR." (Patent Applied For). It also comes with a reeded brass ball finial stem and a chrome-plated ring suspension, measuring 51.8 mm (w) x 65.5 mm (h) inclusive of its stem x 15 mm (d). The acrylic crystal exhibits very light contact, the chrome exterior with moderate wear from active use. Near extremely fine.
