Germany, Third Reich. A First Class Cross of Honour of the German Mother

(Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter in Gold). Constructed of gilt bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from period original ribbon, obverse presenting as a blue- and white-enameled cross pattée with an elongated lower arm with a central emblem depicting a swastika ringed with an inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“The German Mother”) with arms connectied by stylized sun rays, reverse bears engraved institution date of “16. Dezember 1938” and signatures of the Führer and Reichskanzler, unmarked, measuring 47 mm (h) x 36 mm (w), ribbon has been severed but presents in otherwise near extremely fine condition.
