Item #M0251-46

$135
Black-finished steel-framed stereoscopic glasses, magnetic, incorporating two lenses and maker marked "Raumbild-Verlag", the glasses expand upward attached to an X-frame, the base consisting of a slider plate to house the accompanying black and white dual-image stereoscopic cards, and when viewed through the glasses, gives a three-dimensional look at the image, the glasses measuring 155 mm (w) x 62.5 mm (h) x 10.5 mm (d) when folded up, expanding to 97 mm (d) when extended. Also included is a 100 card boxed set, with two of the cards having been lost to time (numbers 6 and 65), the obverse with dual black and white images, with a gloss finish, the reverse of each card inscribed " "FLIGEN und SIEGEN" (Fly and Win), maker marked "Raumbild-Verlag Otto Schonstein K.G., Munchen 23" and marked "Alle Rechte vorbehalten" (All Rights Reserved), with descriptions of the scene being viewed, measuring 130 mm (w) x 60 mm (h) each, in their cardboard box of issue. Extremely fine.

Footnote: A typical stereoscope provides each eye with a lens that makes the image seen through it appear larger and more distant and usually also shifts its apparent horizontal position, so that for a person with normal binocular depth perception the edges of the two images seemingly fuse into one "stereo window".
