Fabricated from silk, incorporating a decorative moiré pattern, with a wide blue field in the centre, flanked by red stripes on either side with thin bands of blue piping along the side edges, large bow-tie at the bottom end, measuring 100 mm wide x 1,050 mm in length, vibrant colours, intact stitching, extremely fine.
Footnote: The House and Merit Order of Duke Peter Frederick Louis was a civil and military order of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, a member state of the German Empire. The order was founded by Grand Duke Augustus of Oldenburg on November 27, 1838, to honour his father, Peter Frederick Louis of Oldenburg. It became obsolete in 1918 after the abdication of the last grand duke. The order came in seven classes: Grand Cross with Crown, Grand Cross, Grand Commander, Commander, Officer, Knight 1st and Knight 2nd Class.
