Naming is officially impressed, the Star with an "E" at the end of his surname. Un-mounted, contact marks, very fine.
Footnote: Robert Clark is acknowledged as having two Index Cards on file: on the first card he is stated as serving as a Bombardier with the 43rd Royal Field Artillery Regiment, with his surname spelled with an "e" at the end (Clarke); on the second card he is stated as serving as a Sergeant with the 39th Brigade, Royal Artillery. Sergeant Robert Clark was awarded the Military Medal for bravery, the announcement appearing in the Fifth Supplement to the London Gazette 29749 of Tuesday, September 12, 1916, on Thursday, September 14, 1916, page 8999, and in the Edinburgh Gazette on Monday, September 18, 1916, page 1653.
