Germany, SA. A 1939 SA Group Sports Competition Day Badge

(Sport-Wettkämpfe Abzeichen). A shield-shaped badge constructed of aluminum with a dull-grey wash, on the obverse the central design incorporates the SA sports badge logo, depicting a vertical broadsword over a mobile swastika surrounded by a laurel wreath, circumscribed by the inscription “WETTKÄMPFE DER SA-GRUPPE WESTMARK TRIER M. 8-9.7.39.” (“COMPETITION DAYS OF THE SA GROUP WESTMARK AT TRIER FROM 8-9 JULY 1939”), the reverse shows the maker mark “E.H.O.,” a magnetic vertical pin, measuring 23 mm (w) x 34 mm (h), and in very fine condition.
