Instituted by King Alexander I of Yugoslavia on 5 April 1930. 1929-1941 Issue. An early quality set consisting of a silver sash badge with four arms in white enamels with ball finials, each arm composed of clusters of individual rays, with green laurels in each quadrant, obverse centre presenting the Yugoslav royal crown with enameled detailing on a white enamel field, detailed silver border, reverse presenting the date "3-X-1929 and the royal monogram "A" (3 October 1929 and Alexander), suspension formed by two green enameled laurel branches, measuring 54 mm (w) x 75 mm |(h - inclusive on laurels and horizontally peirced ball suspension), on original blue silk sash, extremely fine. Accompanied by the star of the order, consisting of a multiple ray four pointed star in silver, obverse centre featuring a four armed white enameled cross with ball finials, each arm composed of clusters of individual rays, with green laurels in each quadrant, presenting the Yugoslav royal crown with enameled detailing on a white enamel field, reverse with dual stays and principle pin assembly, measuring 89 mm )w) x 89 mm (h), exhibiting the manufacturing characteristics of "HUGERNIN FRERES & Co. LE LOCALE Medailleurs (Suisse)", toned silver, light enamel contact, extremely fine.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
