Presenting as a Maltese cross in silvered tombak, the obverse with crossed swords between the arms of the cross and a circular raised border of oak leaves with a raised mobile swastika in the center, the reverse plain with a vertical pinback displaying the number “1,” measuring 46 mm (w) x 48 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of heavy cardstock with textured faux leather black exterior, the lid embossed with an outline of a War Merit Cross, with a satin-type interior lid liner and intact interior fabric hinge cover, slotted black felt medal bed, measuring 67.5 mm (w) x 67 mm (l) x 16 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
