(Schutzpolizei Dienstkleidung). This is an extremely well-preserved Schutzpolizei municipal police EM/NCO uniform constructed of a field grey wool exterior with a complete rayon interior tunic lining. The collar, constructed of smooth dark brown wool, is neatly lined from end-to-end with green Waffenfarbe piping, and is flanked by collar tabs. Constructed of green wool and bordered by twisted silver aluminum bullion wire, the tabs bear machine-embroidered silver wire rank insignia bearing green bands, indicating EM/NCO status, and measure 72 mm (l) x 34 mm (w). The shoulders are flanked by shoulder boards constructed of a light-green cotton blend woven around cardboard and metal wire, upon which rest two silver aluminum bullion wire bands, bearing brown threading in arrow formation, and two woven brown thread bands. The shoulder boards bear two silvered bronze rank pips, indicating that this tunic was worn by a Hauptwachtmeister, and are secured to the tunic by stitching at the outer end and by a silvered, pebbled zink button on the inside. Each shoulder board measures 111 mm (l) x 6 mm (w). The upper left arm bears a sleeve insignia in the form of a machine-embroidered green thread Schutzpolizei-style German national eagle clutching a black mobile swastika on a grey wool background, measuring 86 mm (w) x 70 mm (h). The cuffs of both sleeves are constructed of dark brown wool, rolled up to a depth of 100 mm and securely stitched in place around the circumference, topped by green piping and each bearing two pebbled, silvered zink buttons. The breasts of the tunic each bear two pockets opening with a reinforced buttonhole meeting a pebbled, silvered zink button. The right breast has eight silvered zink buttons meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. All buttons on the tunic are stamped on the reverse with a maker’s mark of “v. Hofe & Co., Lüdenscheid”. The lower reverse has a 270 mm vertical slit, edged with green piping, around which is set four pebbled, silvered zink belt hooks and two decorative buttons. The interior of the tunic is fully lined by a field grey rayon liner, transitioning into a pinstripe design through the arms. The right interior breast is stamped with a maker’s mark of “G. Assmann” with measurements “41, 11, 28, 92, 80”. The left interior breast bears two pockets, each opening with a reinforced horizontal slit, with the top pocket stamped “POL1940” on the inside. The interior of the collar bears three magnetic metal clasps meeting an equal number of hooks, allowing for a flush fit with the wearer’s neck. The tunic measures approximately 462 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 568 mm and a total body length of 684 mm, and is in an extremely fine condition.

Accompanied by original trousers, constructed of field grey wool. Featuring nine marbled bakelite buttons around the belt area, the obverse has a 290 mm vertical slit closed four identical buttons meeting reinforced buttonholes. The rear has a wool belt secured with an adjustable black magnetic metal clasp, as well as a single pocket with a reinforced horizontal slit and bakelite button. A single band of light green Waffenfarbe piping extends the length of the leg on each side, beginning at the side pockets and completing at the ankle. The interior of the trousers is stamped with a Schutzpolizei-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika within a trapezoid, and a maker’s mark of “Steiner & Keller, G.m.b.H”. Measuring approximately 438 mm across the waist and 1089 mm in total length, the trousers are in extremely fine condition.
