Germany, Luftwaffe. An Officer’s Visor Cap, by C.E. Has Prima

Item #G38278

$781
(Luftwaffe Offizier Schirmmütze). Constructed of bluish-grey midwar grade wool. The cap features a traditional high peak crown with officer’s piping along the crown consisting of four strands of interwoven silver aluminum bullion wires, running along the crown of the cap, as well as the top and bottom edges of the cap band. The cap band itself is constructed of black interwoven fabric, and is completely free of bumps, holes, or signs of tampering. The insignia of the cap consist of an officer’s cap eagle, constructed of rolled and twisted silver aluminum bullion wires in the shape of an eagle clutching a mobile swastika in its talons, as well as a winged wreath with a national tri-coloured cockade in the center, also consisting of fine quality rolled, flat, and twisted silver aluminum bullion wires. Both insignia are perfectly centered on the front of the cap and appear to be original to the cap. The visor is constructed of Vulkanfiber, with a molded raised ridge running long the brim. It is lacquered in glossy black on the obverse, and is coloured in green on the underside, remaining firmly attached to the cap. The chin cord consists of a main cord cafted of multiple thick strands of twisted bullion chords, as well as two sliders constructed of four strands of thin twisted bullion cord, and is attached to either side of the cap via a silvered pebbled magnetic button. The interior of the cap is lined in a grey silk fabric. The crown portion of the cap also features a clear celluloid diamond that is embossed “Verkaufsabteilung der Luftwaffe Berlin SW 68 Puttkamerstr. 16/18 - C.E. Has Prima”, stitched in place using dark green twill. Towards the edge of the cap is also a grey leather sweatband with a tag reading “56” for sizing. Behind the cap band was an orange sponge to absorb sweat through the perforated leather at the front - it has disappeared through wear and age. This cap exhibits light signs of use but remains in overall near mint condition.
