A Wound Badge, Black Grade, By Eugene Schmidthaussler; (Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz). Constructed of blackened zinc, the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm in the centre featuring a large mobile swastika, superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel leaves with a tied bow at the bottom, the reverse plain with a vertical pinback, maker marked “E.S.P.” for Eugene Schmidthaussler, Pforzheim, on reverse, measuring 35 mm (w) x 43 mm (h), in better than very fine condition. In case of issue for Gold grade wound badge, constructed of heavy card stock with a faux black leather exterior, white satin-type interior lid liner with intact hinge cover, slotted felt medal bed, functional magnetic metal hinge, functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 66 mm (w) x 67 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.
