This is an extremely well-preserved Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging in Nederland (National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands) Zuid-Limburg (South Limburg) district flag, constructed of multi-piece, multi-coloured cotton twill, with braided thread tassels. The flag presents with a central, triangular, machine-embroidered NSB emblem with the organization’s initials appearing on backgrounds of black and red, emblematic of the National Socialists’ emphasis on blood and soil. The emblem features a central gold Dutch national lion rampant on a Prince’s Flag-style orange, white, and blue tri-colour motif, symbolizing the party’s connection to the Netherlands’ past heroism. An inscription of “ZUID-LIMBURG” (“SOUTH LIMBURG”) appears at the top, constructed of twisted and woven gold threaded letters bordered in black machine-embroidered threading. The emblem measures 80.5 cm (w) x 68.5 cm (h) / 31 in (w) x 27 in (h) The flag is trimmed by 13 cotton loops at the top and interior side for attachment to a standard. The flag is unmarked and measures 103.5 cm (w) x 98.0 cm (h) / 41 in (w) x 39 in (h). Sporadic patches of mothing are evident to the emblem, but the flag is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition.
