A grouping of four commemorative badges, including a silver badge featuring a portrait of von Hindenburg circumscribed by a red enamelled ring with “VORWÄRTS UND DRAUF” and “1914 - 1915” in gilt, the reverse presents a horizontal pinback, measures 36.75 mm in diameter, and in extremely fine condition, a hollow zink and blue enamelled badge featuring the profiles of Franz Joseph and Wilhelm II, bordered by a laurel wreath,the reverse presents a horizontal pinback, measures 30.22 mm, and in near extremely fine condition, a bronze oval badge with the profile of a female figure wearing the Austrian imperial crown, circumscribed by lyrics from the anthem “GUT UND BLUT FÜR UNSERN KAISER, FÜRS VATERLAND”

(“BLOOD AND TREASURE FOR OUR EMPEROR, FOR THE FATHERLAND”), reverse presents a horizontal pinback, maker marked “F.S.,” measures 28.13 mm (w) x 30.73 mm (h), and in extremely fine condition, a bronze badge featuring the portrait of Conrad von Hötzendorf, measuring 25.96 mm in diameter, very fine overall. 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
