German, Imperial. A Satirical Medallion by Gottfried Loos

(Medaille). A round, silver medal, the obverse depicts a female figure holding a flower and clover (clubs) to dispel the personification of time, Chronos, circled by the inscription “SO FLIEHT DIE ZEIT MIT LUST” (“HOW TIME FLOWS WITH JOY”), the reverse shows a man wielding a spade, distributing sleep to a robed woman, around them the words “ZURÜCK! SO SCHLAEFT MAN NICHT” (“BACK! HOW TO DO NOT SLEEP”), maker mark “LOOS” on reverse, measures 38.90 mm in diameter, weighs 18.6 grams, and in fine condition.
