Germany, DAK. An Army M43 Field Cap, Gebirgsjäger Version

(Gebirgsjäger Bergmütze). A tropical field cap constructed of an olive-brown cotton, with a “T” shaped one-piece national eagle, swastika and tri-colour cockade machine-embroidered to a dark-green fabric backing, attached to the upper front, with a metal Edelweiss insignia secured to the left side, field applied, indicating use by Gebirgsjäger (Mountain) troops, the two side panels are joined at the front by brown bakelite buttons, the unmarked interior is lined with a grey rayon-blended material and shows moderate mothing, a leather sweatband lines the interior and is ripped on one side, the exterior presents mild sun bleaching, and overall is in better than very fine condition.
