(Орден Святого Станислава). Instituted on 7 May 1765. A red-enamelled eight-pointed Maltese cross, constructed of Gold, with gold Russian double-headed imperial eagles between its arms, in addition to semi-circles of gold rays between each points of the arms of the cross, with a central medallion bearing the letters “SS” in red paint on a white enamelled background, surrounded by a green enamel laurel wreath, the reverse shows plain Gold arms as well as a white enamelled centre, hand-painted “SS” in red, Russian coat of arms stamped on the reverse of the arm at 12 o’clock, maker mark “AK” for Albert Keibel of St. Petersberg on the six o’clock arm reverse, marked “56” (for 14 Kt. Gold) beside the St. Petersburg city mark on the reverse of the integral ring in addition to another 14 Kt. Gold hallmark, measures 41.41 mm (w) x 43.91 mm (h), weighs 10.1 grams, no chipping to enamels, on flat suspension loop from period original red ribbon with white stripes near the borders, circa 1900 period issue, in extremely fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
