1) A Truant Officer badge, constructed in the shape of an ornamental shield, the obverse shows “TRUANT OFFICER” spelled in black enamelled capital letters, over decorative engravings, the reverse shows a vertical pinback, measures 45 mm (w) x 54 mm (h) (1.77 inches x 2.12 inches), and in very fine condition.
2) A Gloversville, New York Police badge, constructed in the shape of an ornamental shield, the centre obverse shows a number 1 on a pebbled-silver field, banners above and below the number present the words “GLOVERSVILLE POLICE,” the reverse shows a vertical pinback, maker mark “C.D. REESE 22 NASSAU ST. NEW YORK,” measures 58 mm (w) x 65 mm (h) (2.28 inches x 2.56 inches) , and in very fine condition.
3) A Police Chief cap badge, constructed in the shape of a upward facing open-ended wreath with “CHIEF” spelled across the centre, reverse presents a replacement horizontal pinback, measures 73 mm (w) x 45 mm (h) (2.87 inches x 1.77 inches), and in good condition.
4) A god-coloured bullion wire cap badge, the obverse presents an upward facing open-ended wreath with “CHIEF” spelled across the centre, reverse presents a plain black cotton backing, measures 97 mm (w) x 52 mm (h) (3.82 inches x 2.05 inches), and in very fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
