An early cross with many features similar to those first war issue crosses, of multi-piece construction with a blackened non-magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver border, the obverse with a raised central swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm, the reverse plain with a barrel hinge and narrow banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, a rare early example with First War period reverse set-up, unmarked, measuring 42.47 mm (w) x 41.88 (h), weighing 21.1 grams, in better than very fine condition.
