(Virtutea Militară). Instituted in 1866 by Prince Carol of Romania. Constructed of silvered bronze, a round medal depicting four extra curve arms, probably denoting issue in wartime, the obverse depicting the bust of Carol I surrounded by the inscription CAROL I DOMN AL ROMANIEI (Carlos I King of Romania), reverse inscribed VIRTUTE MILITARA (Military Virtue) circumscribed on a tied oak and laurel wreath, suspended by a detailed laurel wreath suspension, measuring 42.21 mm (w) x 56.89 mm (inclusive of suspension), on an original silk breast ribbon, fair.
Footnote: Apparently, this Medal was ceased of awarding when the Bravery Medal was created couple years later.
