Afghanistan, People's Democratic Republic. An International Fighter Medal with Booklet

Instituted in 1988. In brass with red, green and black enamels, measuring 32 mm in diameter, original ribbon, suspended from a traditional Soviet-style rectangular brass frame with screwback, extremely fine. Accompanied by its award booklet (un-named, red moisture-resistant cover, text in black ink on the inside spread, measuring 73 mm (w) x 104 mm (h)).

 
Footnote: The Medal for International Fighters (AKA Medal From the Grateful Afghan People) was instituted on December 28, 1988 and awarded to Soviet troops who served in Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989.
