Constructed of gilded zink, obverse depicting shield with central Edelweiss (representing Heer Gebirgsjäger), propeller (representing the Luftwaffe), and anchor (representing the Kriegsmarine), underneath date of “1940”, underneath inscription of “NARVIK”, topped by a Wehrmacht-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed swastika, with four reverse attachment prongs securing the shield to a black wool backer, unmarked, shield measuring 41 mm (w) x 90.5 mm (h), significant mothing evident to reverse of wool, fair.
