Germany, TeNo. A Technische Nothilfe EM/NCO’s Hewer, by Carl Eickhorn

(Technische Nothilfe Dolch). (Technical Emergency Help). This is an exceptionally well-preserved Technische Nothilfe (Technical Emergency Help) EM/NCO’s hewer, constructed of a nickel-silver plated, scimitar-style magnetic metal blade, with unsharpened tip and edges, measuring 250 mm in length. Engraved into the reverse ricasso area is a maker’s mark of “Eickhorn, Solingen”, along with the firm’s logo of a squirrel grasping a sword. Above the logo is a TeNo-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid with the organization’s cogwheel logo. The obverse is marked with an acid-engraved issue number of “7095”. An original black leather washer features at the connection to the upper crossguard, itself constructed of nickel-silver and featuring a richly-detailed, TeNo-style german national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid with the organization’s cogwheel logo. The upper crossguard also features a hooked quillon. The handle features a two-piece white celluloid handle securely held together by two visible magnetic metal rivets. The pommel completes with a finely-detailed cogwheel design with a hook matching the quillion. The hewer measures 380 mm in total length. It is accompanied by its original scabbard, constructed of magnetic metal, with two nickel-silver adornments at the top and bottom, each held in place by dual screws, with a lacquered black body. The throat of the scabbard is similarly marked with issue number “7095” and features a functional spring mechanism securely holding the hewer in place during storage. The reverse features a loop, allowing the hewer to be suspended from a uniform belt. The scabbard measures 280 mm in length, while the entire set measures 410 mm in length. With the exception of minor tarnishing to the nickel-silver features, the hewer is otherwise unblemished and presents in an extremely fine condition.
