Published in 1899 by the Werner Company of Akron, Ohio, this book features 181 pages of descriptive histories of the military campaigns of German states until the 20th century. The book is presented in bilingual format, with German text in Fraktur script on the left of each page matched by English text in Latin script on the right. The book includes 42 full-page colour illustrations of military uniforms, troops drilling and on parade, and naval ships. Each illustration is protected by a wax paper sheet. The book is bound within a heavy card stock binding with a faux black leather exterior. Some pages have been torn, exposing the the binding strings, but the book is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition. This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
