A group of six First War period Austro-Hungarian commemorative badges, including an Isonzo Front badge, constructed of silvered bronze, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 43 mm (w) x 43 mm (h), in better than very fine condition; a Kaiserschützen badge, constructed of zink, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 35 mm in diameter; a Gebirgsjäger badge, constructed of zink, with one of two reverse attachment prongs intact, maker marked on reverse “G. Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 25 mm (w) x 37 mm (h), in near very fine condition; 22nd Schützen Division badge, constructed of zink, vertical pinback, maker marked on reverse “Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 22 mm (w) x 36 mm (h), in near very fine condition; a Durazzo Campaign badge, constructed of zink, with two reverse attachment prongs, maker marked on reverse “Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 30 mm (w) x 33 mm (h), in good condition, and; a Landwehr Infantry Regiment 16 badge, constructed of silvered and gilded bronze, with two reverse attachment prongs, maker marked on reverse “Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 30 mm (w) x 39 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
