(Chia Ho Hsün Chang). Instituted on 29 July 1912 by Yuan Shi-kai. Type II. (1916-1928 Issue). A silver, eight-pointed star, the obverse presents a white enameled centre bearing five wheat stalks of yellow and green enamels, surrounded by a ring of green-blue enamel with dots of the colours of the Republic of China, mounted to another silver, eight-pointed star, the reverse presents a principle pin assembly, marked to Chinese characters for Republic of China Year 12 (1923), marked with Chinese characters stating that the maker is the Yin Zhu Ju (Central mint), measuring 87.92 mm (w) x 85.30 mm (h), weighing 67.8 grams, enamel loss to obverse centre medallion and medallion slightly loose, silver patrina presented throughout, near good.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
