Germany, Imperial. A Wound Badge, Black Grade

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz). An oval badge constructed of blackened tombac, the obverse with a Stahlhelm in the centre, superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel leaves with a tied bow at the bottom, the reverse presents a vertical pin assembly, measures 39.16 mm (w) x 44.26 mm (h), weighs 9.3 grams, and in extremely fine condition.
