The Awards of David Richard Watson Alexander for South East Asia

Order of the British Empire, Commander, Civil Division, on full length neck ribbon, extremely fine, with a fine group of five & documents: Order of the British Empire, Member, Military Division; 1939-1945 Star; Burma Star; Defence Medal; and War Medal 1939-1945, court mounted with swing bar pinback and matching ribbon bar. All six are extremely fine. Included are one General Service fire-gilt brass cap badge (46 mm x 46.2 mm, intact slider), nine General Service brass buttons (four large, maker marked "FIRMIN LONDON", 24.6 mm; three medium, marker marked "FIRMIN LONDON",16 mm; two small, unmarked, 13.7 mm), two Shoulder Epaulettes (each with gold bullion leafing and one brass button on black wool, leather backers and straps). Accompanied by an OBE Warrant of Appointment and Letter of Entitlement to wear the MBE from the Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood, St. James's Palace. Alexander was cited in the London Gazette on November 7, 1946 for his award of the MBE "in recognition of gallant and distinguished services whilst engaged in Special Operations in South East Asia." He later became Director of Urban Services and was a member of the Legislative Council in Hong Kong.
