Germany, Imperial. A Medallion for Contributions to the Naval Pigeon Service

Constructed of bronze, the obverse with a rightward-facing profile of Kaiser Wilhelm II circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a depiction of a pigeon flying over a seascape circumscribed by inscription “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DAS MARINE-BRIEFTAUBENWESEN” (“FOR SERVICE TO NAVAL MESSENGER PIGEONS”), designer marked on obverse “E. Weigand F.”, measuring 41 mm in diameter, measuring 33.1 grams, in extremely fine condition.
