Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Certificate of Issue for a U-Boat War Badge to Obergefreiter Paul Hartwig

(U-Boots-Kriegsabzeichen Papier). Constructed of off-white paper stock, the obverse with a stylized black ink border topped by an image of the U-Boat War Badge, with a 1939 Iron Cross at the bottom, awarded to “Masch. Obergrefreiten Paul Hartwig”, dated 25 September 1944, issued at Kiel, measuring 210 mm (w) x 297 mm (h), minor material fatigue evident, accompanied by a black-and-white photograph of a moored U-Boat, the reverse indicating the photograph was taken in Riga on 25 July 1938, measuring 92 mm (w) x 62 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
