A collection of six cap badges, including a PANZERZUG Christmas in the Field 1916 cap badge, the centre obverse presents an embossed design of a train above the inscription WEIHNACHTEN IM FELDE 1916, the top of the badge presents the inscription PANZERZUG (ARMOURED TRAIN) between pine leaf motifs, the base of the badge also presents a decorative leaf motif, the reverse presents two retaining prongs, maker marked ENTW.U.AUSGEF. ATEL.G.GURSCHNER WIEN VII, measuring 44.13 mm (w) x 34.58 mm (h), and in very fine condition. A PANZERZUG No. IV 1914-1918 cap badge, the centre obverse presents an embossed design of a train above the inscription FREI VOM FEIND DIE BAHN, the top of the badge presents the inscription PANZERZUG No. IV, the reverse presents a horizontal pinback, maker marked G.GURSCHNER, WIEN, VII/2, measuring 44.24 mm (w) x 25.43 mm (h), and in very fine condition. A vertical rectangular stamped metal badge in bronze finish, the obverse displaying a howitzer field gun, bordered on the left, right, and above by the inscription K.u.K. 10c/m TURMHAUBITZ=BATTERIE 3/6B, the base bear the inscription MGA.POZZA WEIHNACHTEN 1916, the reverse shows a vertical pinback, measuring 25.74 mm (w) x 38.96 mm (h), and in very fine condition. A Hungarian Railway badge, marked on reverse with maker GYARKARIN, with horizontal pinback, measuring 36.99 mm in diameter, and in good condition. A Railway Protection cap badge constructed of stamped metal in a copper finish, the obverse centre bears the embossed design of a standing soldier holding a rifle and guarding a bridge, at the top of the badge is an extended section bearing the inscription 1914-16 EISENBAHNSICHERUNG (RAILWAY PROTECTION), the reverse presents two retaining prongs, with a vertical pinback, measuring 28.71 mm (w) x 38.01 mm (h), and in near very fine condition. A First War period regimental cap badge, measuring 34.57 mm (w) x 50.02 mm (h), reverse presents a horizontal pinback, and in good condition. 

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
