Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Grand Duchy. A Military Service Cross, II Class, c.1914

(Militär-Verdienstkreuz II. Klasse). Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period correct replacement ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse with central initials “FF”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the six o’clock arm with a date of “1914”, the reverse with inscription “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE” (“FOR SERVICE IN WAR”), unmarked, measuring 41.07 mm (w) x 45.25 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
