Germany, Third Reich. A University of Cologne 550th Anniversary Medallion

(Universität zu Köln Jubiläumsabzeichen). Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse with a depiction of a female figure on a Hanseatic trade ship, above the coat of arms of Köln (Cologne), reverse inscribed “UNIVERSITÄT DER HANSESTADT KÖLN 1388-1939”, unmarked, measuring 70 mm in diameter, accompanied by its period original case of issue, constructed of card stock with a faux green leather exterior, with a white satin-type interior lid liner, intact hinge cover, depressed felt medal bed, functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release, functional magnetic metal hinge, measuring 93 mm (w) x 93 mm (l) x 21 mm (h), in better than very fine condition.
