This Knight’s Cross features a regulation silver frame in the shape of a cross pattée that is marked L/12 and 800 equidistant from the centerline on the full-rounded eye for suspension, the Cross is of multi-piece constructed with a blackened eggshell sheen iron core that is only rarely encountered by this maker, the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika surrounded by a ribbed border, forming the distinctive # effect on the ribbed inner portion of the frame adjacent to the swastika, the lower arm features the re-institution date 1939 in raised numbering on the lower arm, the reverse with the original institution date 1813 in raised numbering on the lower arm, measuring 48.41 mm (w) x 48.25 mm (h), weighing 33.6 grams, with very minor signs of wear, with the paint well-preserved, presenting attractive dark patina, and in very fine condition. Accompanied by period original ribbon, measuring 45.0 mm (w) x 375 mm (l). In addition, an official certificate of German heritage for Feldwebel (Sergeant) Bruno Sassen (b. 13 March 1918), measuring 20.9 cm (w) x 14.4 cm (h), signed in black ink by the Company Leader for 10./Fallschirm-Jäger-Regiment 3, and in near very fine condition. All three items are accompanied by certificates of authenticity provided by Dietrich Maerz.
