In silver, featuring an eight-point radiant ribbed star, centre applique bearing a black enameled Romanov eagle overlaid by a blue enameled Saint Andrew’s cross set in Gold, blue enameled ring bearing raised hand etched Gold order motto of “ЗА ВѢРУ И ВѢРНОСТЬ” (“FOR FAITH AND LOYALTY”), with Gold and green enameled laurel branches at the bottom, the reverse with two visible rivets holding obverse applique in place, a barrel hinge and narrow banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, marked on on pin as well as catch with import mark of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Vienna, used between 1872-1902, measuring 83.78 m (w) x 84.07 mm (h), weighing 55.8 grams, the obverse applique has been impressed into the body of the award, otherwise in better than very fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
