A collection of six cap badges, including a Austro-Hungarian Red Cross cap badge, constructed of stamped metal, the obverse presents a panel containing the embossed design of a hospital building, with red cross emblems to the left and right corners, below is the inscription RESERVESPITAL BRCKO, the top and base of the badge have an arched section with a wreath border, the top arch bears the inscription PATRIAE AC HUMANITATI, the base base BELGRAD 1915, the reverse presents two retaining pins, maker marked with ATEL.G.GURSCHNER WIEN VII/2, measuring 40.44 mm (w) x 42.50 mm (h), and in very fine condition. A Col Di Lana Artillery Command cap badge, constructed of stamped metal in a bronze finish, the obverse presents an embossed design depicting a soldier operating a range-finder, beneath a tree, facing out to an alpine landscape, the top right bears the inscription ARTILLERIE-KDO.BUCHENSTEIN 1915-1916, the reverse presents two retaining prongs, unmarked, measuring 43.34 mm (w) x 30.49 mm (h), and in very fine condition. An Army-Command Courier cap badge, constructed of metal in a bronze finish, with arrowed top and base edges, the obverse presents the central design of a Roman soldier, with helmet, staff and shield, standing on a pair of winged wheels, with an adjacent date inscription WELT-KRIEG 1914-1917, the base of the badge bears the inscription K.U.K. KURIER-POSTEN DES A.O.K., the reverse presents a vertical retaining pin, maker marked AUSGEF.ATELIER G. GURSCHNER WIEN VII, measuring 22.56 mm (w) x 40.89 mm (h), and in near very fine condition. A 1914-1916 10th Armoured Transport cap badge, on a horizontal pin, measuring 27.45 mm (w) x 36.95 mm (h), and in very fine condition. A First World War S.H.D. 6 S.F.A.R.N. 15 cap badge, maker marked for Gurschner, on a horizontal pinback, measuring 61.65 mm (w) x 41.12 mm (h), and in very fine condition. A Naval cap badge, constructed in a matte dark grey finish, the obverse centre displays the embossed design depicting a face-on view of a battleship cruising at sea, the top of the badge is framed by a leaf motif border, with the central logo of the initials FJI, the base of the badge has a panel bearing the inscription 1914 K.U.K. 1916 KRIEGSMARINE, reverse presents a vertical pinback, measuring 25.02 mm (w) x 36.05 mm (h), and in good condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
