Constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse depicting a rightward facing bust of Franz Joseph I circumscribed by name and title, the reverse inscribed “DER TAPFERKEIT” (“FOR BRAVERY”), on loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, with magnetic metal hook and loop, marked “BRONZE” on the rim, measuring 40.30 mm in diameter, weighing 22.6 grams, in extremely fine condition.
