A group of six First War period Austro-Hungarian badges, including a 29th Infantry Division badge, constructed of bronze, vertical pinback, maker marked on reverse “Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 23 mm (w) x 37 mm (h), in very fine condition; Jäger Regiment badge, constructed of zink, vertical pinback, maker marked on reverse “Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 35 mm (w) x 39 mm (h), in very fine condition; a 57th Division badge, constructed of zink, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 46 mm (w) x 30 mm (h), in near very fine condition; a 1917 patriotic badge, constructed of zink, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 50 mm (w) x 25 mm (h), in near very fine condition; a 34th Division badge, constructed of zink, horizontal pinback, maker marked on reverse “Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 38 mm (w) x 25 mm (h), in near very fine condition, and; a Saint Barbara badge, constructed of silvered bronze, vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 27 mm (w) x 38 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
