A group of seven First War period Austro-Hungarian badges, including a 1914-1915 4th Army badge, constructed of bronze, vertical pinback, maker marked on reverse “Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 25 mm (w) x 39 mm (h), in very fine condition; a 1914-1915 7th Army badge, constructed of zink, with both reverse attachment prongs intact, unmarked, measuring 32 mm (w) x 32 mm (h), in very fine condition; a 1915 11th Army badge, constructed of bronze, with both reverse attachment prongs intact, maker marked on reverse “Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 34 mm (w) x 38 mm (h), in very fine condition; a Fortree Trient (Trento) badge, constructed of zink, horizontal pinback, maker marked on the reverse “Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 30 mm in diameter, in very fine condition; an Austro-German Carpathian Campaign badge, constructed of bronze, with both reverse attachment prongs intact, maker marked on the reverse “Gurschner, Wien”, measuring 26 mm (w) x 38 mm (h), in very condition; a Karl I badge, constructed of zink, vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 30 mm (w) x 45 mm (h), in very fine condition, and; a Hungarian regimental badge, constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, maker marked on the reverse “Akanzas, Budapest”, measuring 28 mm (w) x 32 mm (h), in very fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
