(Haus und Verdienst Orden des Herzogs Peter Friedrich Ludwig, Ehrenkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern am Ring). Instituted on 27 November 1838. 1856-1918 Issue. A silver cross pattée, obverse centre depicting the royal cipher of Peter Friedrich Ludwig, circumscribed by the motto EIN GOTT, EIN RECHT, EINE WAHRHEIT (ONE GOD, ONE RIGHTEOUSNESS, ONE TRUTH), reverse centre depicting the coat of arms of Oldenburg, measuring 35.21 mm (w) x 47.52 mm (h - inclusive of crossed swords mounted above the cross), on loop for suspension from mid 20th Century ribbon and horizontal pinback, and in very fine condition.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
